Look What's In the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum Library!

Enslow is excited to find out that Black Sabbath: Pioneers of Heavy Metal by Brian Aberback from our Rebels of Rock series can be found in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum library.

Library ISN: 978-0-7660-3379-5
Library and School Price: $23.95
List Price: $31.93
Paperback ISBN: 978-1-59845-212-9
Paperback Price: $9.95

Black Sabbath, the band that created heavy-metal music, could not envision making rock history when the band formed in Birmingham, England, in the late 1960s. Back then, the poor and working-class young men of Black Sabbath were hoping to simply make a living playing music so that they could escape a life confined to boring factory work. Black Sabbath’s journey from Birmingham to the big time is a remarkable story of highs and lows, of fallout and reconciliation. Their music and their aggressive, rebellious nature have inspired and influenced countless bands in a number of rock genres, from hard rock and heavy metal to punk to rap.

Gene Simmons gets married

After being together for twenty eight years and having two children together, Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed finally tied the knot on Saturday in Beverly Hills, California. Here's some info about the wedding.

Gene Simmons is known for being a founding member of the band KISS. When the band was formed in the 1970s, Gene and his bandmates decided they needed a gimmick. Each band member dressed up in full costume and wore face paint. The band is still very popular today.

Today would have been Jerry Garcia's birthday

Library 978-0-7660-3028-2
Paperback 978-1-59845-3620-8

One of the founding members of the band the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia became the lead guitarist and lead singer, however he did not like that role. He wanted the band to be democratic, with everyone having a say into what the band did.

With the death of Jerry Garcia on August 9, 1995, the band members felt that they could not continue without Jerry, and out of respect for him, dissolved the band. In 1994, members of the band had been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Grateful Dead received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammys in 2007.

Available in both library and paperback editions, this title is a great read for deadheads.

On this date in 1971

The album "Led Zeppelin IV," which included the song "Stairway to Heaven," was released.

In 2007 the last three remaining members of the band performed in the Ahmet Tribute Concert a tribute concert dedicated to Ahmet Ertegun, the founder of Atlantic Records. Led Zeppelin owed their career to Atlantic Records. This concert was done by lottery, and the money raised went to the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund, which provides scholarships to needy students in the United States, Great Britain, and Ertegun's home country, Turkey.
