World AIDS Day is observed December 1st of every year and is dedicated to raising awareness globally about the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. This day, recognized and observed by governments and health officials, was first conceived in Geneva, Switzerland at the World Health Organization. The very first World AIDS Day was recognized on December 1, 1988.
