"This new six-book series for preschool and kindergarten teaches young students about the major holidays of the world through numbers. The easy-to-comprehend text and the color photos and illustrations in each volume will enchant readers and expand their knowledge and skills."

The Bottom Line: With the reinforced library binding, this book will hold up nicely in both school and public libraries. It's great to see a series featuring so many women scientists. Highly recommended as an excellent biography for kids ages 11 - 16.
Karen Cioffi wrote a great review for Early American Poetry- "Beauty in Words" on the blog "Virtual Book Tours: Writers on the Move". Here is an excerpt from Karen's review: Early American Poetry “Beauty in Words” explores poetry in America from colonial days to the end of the nineteenth century. It is a wonderful stepping stone for children to journey into the world of verse. Illustrations and pictures of the authors lend an air of informality to the book while the poems, facts, information, and descriptions enlighten the child to poets such as Anne Bradstreet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Dickenson, and Walt Whitman, to name a few.For more information about this title from Enslow, please click here
Nana Herron wrote an awesome review of Enslow's "Astonishing Ancient World Scientists" on her blog, Mini Book Bytes An excerpt from her review:
"The Bottom Line: Astonishing Ancient World Scientists: Eight Great Brains by Amy Graham fills a niche by providing biographical information for subjects that might not receive a full treatment. The book’s reinforced binding will hold up nicely in both school and public libraries. This collective biography is highly recommended for kids in middle school and early high school."
Mentalfloss.com has a great Interview with last American WWI Veteran.
Bookpleasures.com Book Reviewer Wendy Thomas gives an awesome review of Ann Benbow and Colin Mably's "Master the Scientific Method with Fun Life Science Projects"
"Master the Scientific Method with Fun Life Science Projects is one of the clearest tools I’ve seen that teaches and explains to children exactly how to methodically move from query to investigative conclusion using the scientific method.....
Master the Scientific Method with Fun Life Science Projects takes what can be a complicated subject for young children to understand and presents it in such an informative and precise manner that anyone would be able to follow and understand the scientific principals."

Amy Lignor of Bookpleasures.com writes:"I’ve read many powerful stories regarding this time period, but I have to say that this read really hit home. ‘Watching’ this whole horrible event play out through the eyes of a child gave me a whole new perspective on Pearl Harbor and the treatment of Japanese Americans by the United States. Harry was an innocent; he was not the enemy. A great deal of Japanese American citizens were most definitely not the enemy of America."

BrontëBlog gave a great review of Enslow's "A Student's Guide to the Brontë Sisters"
"Particular attention is paid to Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights with a chapter devoted to each novel. Anne Brontë's works are not forgotten or glossed over as the author keeps a chapter for the younger sister which is particularly interesting as Ms Pasachoff goes beyond the mainstream literary agenda and praises The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Agnes Grey which she considers a precedent in many aspects of Jane Eyre itself"
"clear and not overwhelming typeface in order to appeal to all those students which don't limit themselves to the Wikipedia articles or the same old online Jane Eyre/Wuthering Heights essays and want to discover the basics of the lives and works of the Brontës. If some of them comes across this book in their local or high school library we are pretty sure they will not be disappointed."

Q1. What was the inspiration behind the Hannah Pritchard series? To learn more about these books, please visit Enslow's website.
An editor at Enslow read one of my historical novels and asked me to write a book about a female pirate. After some research I learned that there were probably women aboard some of the privateer ships. By setting the story during the Revolutionary War, I was able to bring in the historical figures Paul Revere and John Paul Jones as well as information about the little known terrible prison ships.
Q2. How did you approach writing these titles? How do you incorporate nonfiction with a fictional story?
I did about two months of research before starting to write. Then I went through my notes to bring historical events that would work in the fictional story that was growing in my head. I especially looked for details that kids would find interesting (like using the bathroom).
Q3. How did you create each of the characters in the Hannah Pritchard series?
That is a hard question. I suppose that is why I am a writer. I have all of these characters in my head waiting for me to write them a story. By the time I start to write they are almost like real people to me.
Q4. What is your favorite part of the Hannah Pritchard series?
There is a battle in the second book Pirate Hannah Pritchard: Captured! that was fun to write. Then when Hannah and her friends escape the sinking Sea Hawk in the small ship’s boat Hannah insists on taking the ship’s cat and a goat.
Q5. How did you begin your writing career?
I wrote a few magazine articles in the early 80’s before I realized that what I really wanted to do was to write for children. My first book was published in 1985. I have written 40 books, both picture books and novels. I’ve written family stories, mysteries, even science fiction, but my favorites are the historical.
Q6. What made you decide to write for children?
I love books, but especially children’s books. When I was a little girl, you know, the days before X-box and cable television, I discovered reading as a way to escape into other worlds and have crazy adventures. When I had children of my own I used to go to the library and get stacks of books to read to them. I could never wait, though, I always had to sit down and read them first.
Q7. What do you do when you are not writing?
I own a children’s bookstore so I’m often there. I really enjoy matching the children that come in with just the right book.
Q8. Will there be a Hannah Pritchard part 3?
Oh, I think so; in Pirate Hannah Pritchard: Captured! Hannah and her crew buried a chest of Spanish coins on the Outer Banks. She will probably have to go back to retrieve it……
