The NSTA (National Science Teachers Association) has just published a nice review of Awesome Animal Science Projects, written by Ann Benbow and Colin Mably.
The review starts off with: "Everyday, elementary school students ask questions like this: "Can you train a goldfish?" The science teacher brain switches on to resond: "In what ways can we find out?" The then the reality sets in for the teacher. Can we discover the answer?"
