Happy Limerick Day

What is a limerick? A limerick is a poem with five lines. Lines 1, 2, and 5 have seven to ten syllables and rhyme with one another. Lines 3 and 4 have five to seven syllables and also rhyme.

The following limerick is from Enslow's April Fool's Day Jokes to Tickle Your Funny Bone:

When logging onto the Internet
It's almost always a very safe bet
That the fake "news" you'll find
Will be old and behind—
Or it won't quite have happened yet.

Happy Limerick Day!

A fun limerick from our Brainless Birthday Jokes to Tickle Your Funny Bone Book by Felicia Lowenstein Niven.

Available in library binding, paperback, and as an eBook!

Want to write a limerick of your own? It's easy. Here's how:

A limerick is a funny, rhyming poem that is five lines long. Lines 1,2, and 5 rhyme. Lines 3 and 4 are usually shorter and rhyme with each other.

Want to write a limerick of your own? It's easy. Here's how:

First, brainstorm some rhyming words. Write them down on a piece of paper. Next, number lines on a piece of paper from 1 to 5. Write lines 1 and 2 so that the last word in line 2 rhymes with the last word in line 1.

Example:
1. There once was a man from France.
2. His friends thought he liked to dance.

Then write lines 3 and 4 so that the last word in line 4 rhymes with the last word in line 3.

Example:
3. But that was not true
4. And what no one knew

Finally, write line 5 so the last word rhymes with lines 1 and 2.

Example:
5. Was he really had ants in his pants.

Limericks are fun to write on your own or with a group of people!

Today is Friday so it's Joke Book day!

From the Food Jokes to Tickle Your Funny Bone book:

What's worse than finding a worm in your apple? Finding half a worm!

Here's a fact from the book: Did you know that the color of the yolk depends on what the hen eats? Egg yolks can vary in color from deep yellow to almost colorless.
