This July 4th weekend is the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. To mark the date there will be a large gathering of thousands of people to reenact the Civil War, as well as tens of thousands of spectators to commemorate the historic battle. On this day in history
On April 14, 1865 Abraham Lincoln was shot and mortally wounded by John Wilkes Booth while at the Ford's Theater in Washington, DC. President Lincoln died the next day.
